    I have a few concerns with this system (v1 or 2) which.... 1. It could be easy for a thief to lift the camera from the neckstrap or back pack version. Especially if like me you do a lot of travel/video photography in popular tourist spots and i also use public transport to get to them, so basically where thieves/pick pocketers hang out. (does the neckstrap version at least have alocking mechanism like the tripod version? 2. Base plate screws do come loose over time and i could see it dropping off the neck/back pack strap if not regularly tightened. 3. I'm not sure wearing a camera with a heavy lens all day on a front strap of a back pack would be good for your back, especially if you are of a certain age like me! Hence why it's called a 'back pack'

    • @AndrewVanBeekOttawa
      @AndrewVanBeekOttawa 12 дней назад

      @@KevinMullarkey 1. This could be a problem for some. There is no lock on the neck strap. There is one on the backpack strap. I don’t do as much travel photography as I used to but I typically have my camera in a safe position when in more populated areas. 2. Surprisingly, I have yet to have a plate come loose even during a 12 hour wedding. I do carry a tiny screw driver on my key chain that Falcam included in some of the packaging. It’s just slightly bigger than a quarter and very useful. 3. You are right about a camera with a heavy lens being difficult on a backpack strap. I spent 4 hours walking with a Sony A7IV and the Tamron 70-180, clipped to my backpack and I was done with it at the end. Now I typically use the strap clip with the A7IV and the 35mm F1.8 or something even smaller.

    Thanks for this video, it says very true things, I'm just struggling between these two lenses for my Sony A7RII. One question, is there a big difference between the 2.0 and the 1.8 in photography, in your opinion? Greetings from Peru. (my work is wedding photos)

    • @AndrewVanBeekOttawa
      @AndrewVanBeekOttawa 22 дня назад

      Thank you for your question from your beautiful country. There is so little difference between F1.8 and F2 that you can just slightly see a difference in background blur when put side by side. To see a dramatic difference you would have to compare F2 and F1.4. Similarly, the light gathering capability at F2 is just barely lower than F1.8 - something like a quarter of a stop.

    I got my stuff today! YAY! I completed my whole setup! FALCAM is discounting everything 10 to 20% right now. The only place that doesn't seem to be honoring their discount is Amazon. I literally had to contact FALCAM and tell them about Amazon not following suit. Amazon is starting to discount some of the stuff now. Anyway, I got: ✓The F38 Shoulder Strap Kit; ✓The F38 Backpack Base; ✓The Classic Strap; ✓An ARCA plate for my Ulanzi flexible tripod You are correct! The system is flawless! I was absolutely thrilled at how nicely it fits into my ARCA bases on my tripods. It doesn't add a lot of weight to the camera. In fact, it weighs less than the old ARCA plate that I took off of it. All I needed were a couple of simple components and I now feel so foolish for writing the big long dissertation to you now that I see how simple everything is! Thank you so much for bringing the video to us. It was what made me decide to go ahead and place the order and I'm sure happy I did! 😁📸

    I know that it it's almost impossible to believe that I forgot something but I did. FALCAM doesn't exactly have the most user-friendly videos or website else I would not have all these questions having studied the product quite well for over a week now and the light bulb is finally just going off now that I've seen your video 💡 • In addition to the Shoulder Strap Kit V2, I would like the ability to mount my camera to things like my puppy carry bag which has wide straps on it and my other totes. I'm speculative that the Shoulder Strap Kit V2 might be limited in the width and depth of the component to which it's attached and would like to know if, while it's on sale, I should get the Backpack component as well and, if so, do I need the full kit or just the one piece? Can the Backpack Kit be used INSTEAD of the Shoulder Strap Kit or is it too big and clunky to be used on a camera strap? AND, since I only carry one camera at a time outside, do I simply need one (1) full Camera Strap Kit V2 or Backpack Kit if you advise to get instead) and one additional Camera Strap or (Backpack Plate thing) since I can use the same TOP/BASE with each? I do believe I have my inquiry complete. 🙃🙂

    • @AndrewVanBeekOttawa
      @AndrewVanBeekOttawa 28 дней назад

      @@klee9016 the shoulder and backpack parts are very different. The former is used to attach existing straps to via the side anchors. It will hang from those straps. The backpack adapter clamps onto a thick strap like you have on a pack pack. There is little overlap with their uses so one will definitely work better for one purpose than the other.

      @@AndrewVanBeekOttawa I can't believe you responded so rapidly! Thank you! I finally get it. I COULD, but it would be less than ideal, use the backpack one on a strap because I am getting the FALCAM magnetic strap that creates a full solid round but ideally, the strap kit would be used on the magnetic ends. The light bulb has now fully gone off in my head because of your patience and direction 😁 Also, I need just one BOTTOM, not two, because the NEEWER has the ARCA. Thank you so very much for all that you do! If it weren't for your video I would still be beating my head against the wall trying to figure out the many components. You are amazing!

    A great idea in theory, and I thought I had found the perfect solution for protecting the Pocket 3. Unfortunately, however, there is one major drawback that I hadn't considered and it turned out to be a showstopper: the case, as a thick, black shell that completely encloses the camera, inevitably causes it to overheat after a relatively short time during longer shots in warm weather (several shots lasting 5 to 10 minutes). This is likely the reason why DJI did NOT provide the Pocket 3 with a fixed protective cover: the camera needs air to dissipate the heat. A "winter coat" like this case considerably hinders cooling and the camera switches off after a while. You then have to take the Pocket 3 out of the case to let it cool down, which is ultimately frustrating and counterproductive. In winter, of course, this case works perfectly and I would recommend it for that use case.

    • @AndrewVanBeekOttawa
      @AndrewVanBeekOttawa 3 месяца назад

      Hi Edmund, the way you sync with a drone is the same way that I use for everything. it’s a very low tech method where once you have the microphone turned on and you were filming, just clap one or two times to create a spike in the audio file waveform. When you are editing your video and audio, sync that audio spike with the visual of your hands coming together, and you will have a perfect sync of the two. Once you get used to it, it becomes second nature.

    Solid, but too bulky for my user-case. I am hoping someone designs a minimalist case. No luck, yet.

    Andrew, two questions for you. 1. Does the Case prevent heat dissipating from the Pocket 3 and thus cause overheating? 2. How do you safety remove Pocket 3 from this case. Tight fit and a can’t find anything to pull or push Pocket 3 out the case. What do you suggest? Thanks so much for you experience.

      I don’t leave it sitting for very long so overheating is never an issue for me. For the version without the extended battery, the camera slides out of the case when the bottom screw is released. I’ve heard of people having issues with this with the extended battery case.

      If you have the supplied lanyard attached to the pocket 3 body you can use it to pull the camera from the case 👍🏻

    What is the advantage of the F38 vs a full ARCA based system? I mean, couldn't the same fast cameras<->mounts swaps be achieved solely with ARCA bases and ARCA compatible mounts, without the need for an extra layer (the F38 baseplate)?

    • @AndrewVanBeekOttawa
      @AndrewVanBeekOttawa 3 месяца назад

      You can certainly use all arca Swiss but I’ve enjoyed the single button push to release the camera and the click-in ability for shaky setups. Also being able to convert any non-arca Swiss older manfrotto) has been great for me.

      I love new kit but Arca is one less plate on everything.

      @@pixellimages My ARCA standard plates work perfectly with the F38 components! I was so worried that I was going to have to buy new base plates. That was holding me back from ordering. I figured out that the 38 stands for millimeters. That is exactly what the fully closed ARCA standard is, 38mm

    Nice vid man! I have one HUGE problem with the 1st iteration of the A7iv cage - it pivots, even with the strap screw tightened, it still moves! I have a baseplate with/for 15mm rods, and the more I attach to it, the more possibilities it has to be crooked?! I wish they'd put both size hole in the bottom of the cameras like it seemed they used to? Anyway, I wonder if the Rhinoceros cage has the same issue? I would assume so, seeing how there is still only one contact screw on the base of the A7iv?

    Enjoyed the video. What camera(s) do you use on the bike? I’m looking for one to record front/back. Is it a 360? Rear angle looks wider than front. It looks good. Thanks!

    • @AndrewVanBeekOttawa
      @AndrewVanBeekOttawa 4 месяца назад

      I'm using the Insta360 X4 at 8K. The front and back views come from the same reframed clip. I always zoom in more for the forward facing view so you can recognize stuff, and wider when facing me. You can zoom in as little or as much as you like. The plus side of the 360 is the reframing after but it does add a lot of extra time. Close to double the time of using 2 cameras.

    9:02 Using the 11mm lens, which would provide better low light quality, a6700 + 11mm, or A7CII/A7IV +11mm with Super35 mode?

    • @AndrewVanBeekOttawa
      @AndrewVanBeekOttawa 4 месяца назад

      I haven't actually compared side by side but I think the A7IV is cleaner because of the over-sampling and higher top clean ISO (3200 for the A7IV).

      That’s was just cobbled together from an old selfie stick and a cold shoe mount that had lying around. Anything with 1/4 20 should work the same.
